
Mina Sokari Aliyu, née Jumbo, is a pioneer student of Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma and an accountant by profession. She studied accountancy at The Rivers State University of Technology, now Rivers State University.
She started her career in the Finance Department of Shell Nigeria, serving in various capacities. Mina’s stellar interpersonal relationships, effective customer service and exceptional outlook to service earned her the Extra Mile Award in 2003 from the Finance Director.
In 2010, Mina made a complete switch in her career and moved to the External Relations Team in Shell. She served as GMoU Maturation Adviser, GMoU Implementation Adviser and then as Community Relations Co-Ordinator. She used her interpersonal and relationship building skills to great advantage and resolved several challenging situations with huge benefits to the company.
As an expert in GMoU Implementation Management and Deployment to benefitting communities, Mina was both a coach and a mentor to younger practitioners and colleagues. She went over and beyond to ensure they had the right work experience which earned her the position of the GMoU Subject Matter Expert.
Mina served in SPDC as a strong team player, contributing positively to aggregate value addition processes in the company.
After her retirement from Shell, Mina decided to pursue her dream of fashion designing to contribute decency and style to the female fashion industry. She attended a one-year training in fashion design to acquire the requisite skills to function effectively in the fashion space and carve a niche for herself.
Mina is warm, vivacious and energetic. She is forthright and friendly and has a humorous way of communicating truths and principles that puts people at ease. She is a peacemaker, a homemaker par excellence and very generous with her time, skills, financial resources and the food from her kitchen.
She is a born again Christian, an avid lover of the Word of God and Bible-based gospel music and a great dancer. She currently serves as a supervisory leader at The Carpenter’s Church, Port Harcourt.
She is happily married to Danjuma, her husband of 36 years and they are blessed with two lovely sons David and Daniel and a daughter, Peace
